Upper image:Widened mediastinum
Lower image:Aneurysm of ascending aorta
Aortic Aneurysm
* Saccular – involves a portion of the wall
* Fusiform – entire circumference of lumen
* Greater than 6cm or associated with chest pain greater risk pf rupture, candidate for surgery
* Atherosclerotic disease accounts for 80%
* Proximal Descending aorta most common site of involvement
* 1/3 of thoracic aneurysms also with AAA
